Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Boat on Pehoe Lake; Trek the French Valley; Serrano Camp

Your day begins in Puerto Natales at 7 am when your guide and private transport pick you up from your hotel or accommodation. You'll be driven to Torres del Paine along unpaved roads and past lagoons and pampas, accompanied at times by the guanacos (relatives of llamas), grey foxes, Chilean flamingos, and black-necked swans that call this region home.

Once in the National Park, you’ll take the catamaran across Lake Pehoe to the starting point of today’s return trek. Your destination, the French Valley, is a glacial moraine surrounded by peaks and hanging glaciers – you’ll hike over challenging terrain and catch your first sight of the hanging glacier atop the valley.

From here, you ascend for an hour through a dreamlike Japanese garden landscape before arriving at the French Valley viewpoint (the 'Plateau'). Your reward is a stunning bird’s eye view of granite peaks and hanging glaciers. On one side is the French Glacier and Paine Grande (3050m); while on the other, La Espada, La Hoja, La Máscara, and the main and north 'horns' of Los Cuernos arch upwards. In the upper section of the valley, Mt Catedral and Mt Fortaleza loom like turrets above the landscape. You'll have plenty of time to rest and have lunch at the viewpoint, surrounded by these imposing peaks and open skies.

Your descent is via the same path. You’ll take the short catamaran ride back across Pehoe Lake and pick up your private transfer to the Serrano Camp. A freshly prepared welcome dinner awaits you as you share unforgettable views of the Paine Massif from the spacious dining lodge. Spend a restful night in your private deluxe dome on the shore of the Serrano River.

Transfer duration: 2hrs to the national park, plus 35mins to the camp

Catamaran duration: 35mins

Length of hike: 7-8hrs, 21km (until the French viewpoint, the "Plateau")

Meals: Picnic lunch, dinner

Accommodation: Serrano Camp

Day 2: Trek the Pingo Valley; Glacier Grey boat trip; Serrano Camp

After a fresh and hearty breakfast, your private transfer drives you to the trailhead of your morning trek into the Pingo Valley. This 3hr hike in the valley takes you to a stunning viewpoint at Cascada los Salmones – a waterfall where salmon are sometimes seen. On the return journey, keep an eye out for the elusive huemul (Andean deer).

After a relaxing picnic lunch on the bank of the Pingo River, you’ll walk through a woodpecker-inhabited beech forest to pick up the boat for your 3hr trip around blue-hued icebergs to the enormous face of Glacier Grey. You'll stay for some time to soak up the textures, lines, and colors. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see a glacial calving, where huge chunks of ice break off the glacier and crash into the freezing waters.

On your return journey in the boat, you’ll see the wind-sculpted 'ice mushrooms' atop the massive peaks of Paine Grande. Later, you’ll drive to the Serrano Camp where a sumptuous meal and a good night’s rest await you.

Please note - The order of activities may be inverted according to the boat’s sailing time or the climatic conditions. Likewise, the trek to the Pingo Valley may be replaced with another if your guide decides that another trail will enhance the guests’s experience. You will be informed of this by your guide in advance.

Transfer duration: 30mins each way

Boat ride duration: 3hrs

Length of hike: 3hrs, 8.5km

Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner

Accommodation: Serrano Camp

Day 3: Trek to Las Torres (The Towers) lookout; Drive to Puerto Natales

The final day starts with a transfer across the National Park, taking in some incredible early-morning sights as the sun gradually begins to rise, to the starting point for your trek to the famous Las Torres lookout.

An initial ascent follows the Ascencio River into the Ascencio Valley. At a lookout point, about an hour into the trek, you’ll pause to take in the beauty of the valley's rich beech forests, glaciers, and waterfalls.

After this point, the path continues climbing through lush beech forests before ascending a gigantic terminal moraine (the ridge formed at a glacier’s end point). It's here, at an altitude of 900m, where you’ll be rewarded by the stunning sight of Las Torres and stay a while to soak up the amazing views, take photos, and have lunch.

You'll then retrace your steps and pick up your transfer to Puerto Natales (2 hours), arriving in the evening exhausted from three intense days of activity but buzzing with the feeling of having conquered Torres del Paine's most iconic treks.

Transfer duration: 1.5hrs to the trailhead, 2hrs back to Puerto Natales

Length of hike: 8-10hrs round-trip, 22km

Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch

What our customers think of W Trek, 3 days

W Trek, 3 days trips scored 4.6/5 from 40 reviews

Our guide and driver were absolutely outstanding. They pitched everything just right for the group and could do more to help. The same goes for the staff in the refugio and the food was excellent.

Our two tour guides, Carla Paz and Nacho were AMAZING and they truly loved sharing their knowledge of the park and their upbringings in Chile/Puerto Natales. We were beyond happy to have had two guides who were so energetic and informative throughout the whole time and we really got to know each other. Every single thing was planned out for us, from the transportation, to lodging, lunches, and delicious meals back at the camp. We are so happy that we chose Swoop and we would definitely work with them again in the future.

The W Trek 3 day tour was the perfect tour for us. This tour really showcased all of the best parts of the park. Each day there was plenty of hiking or glacier viewing. We were very torn about going with the 5 day trek however, chose this one based on our limited time that we had. This was the best option for us and there was no time wasted. We were happy to have 3 full days of activities rather than spreading out the activities and having more time at our camp.

The guides were fantastic and the scenery wonderful, what more can one say?

Our guide, Rodrigo, was just delightful. The riverside camp was a great glamping experience on the edge of the park (so close you might as well call it 'in the park'). The food was superb - definitely ABOVE a glamping expectation!

We had a wonderful guide who took great care of us. She was attentive to our needs and desires and created a wonderful trek for us. The food at the camp was top notch and the dome tents clean and cozy.

The long hikes were challenging, but well worth it, and it was delightful to have the glamping at the end. The tents were lovely. More hot water would have been even better in the showers, but it was otherwise terrific.

What an amazing week. Words and pictures cannot express the joy felt in this beautiful wilderness. Thank you to our wonderful guides and gaucho.
